Inside the Illustration
Spread 8: Pebble
I had to reach back in the archives of college drawing classes and remember how to draw perspective for this one. I had a vision of what I wanted this page to look like, girl standing in the aisle of a school bus admiring her pebble. I had to distort the perspective a little to add copy on the left side - it is not perfect, but good enough!
I did the initial line drawing with a graphite pencil on white paper. I colored in the drawing with colored pencil, blended slightly with a Q-tip, and finally outlined with a Sharpie fine tip marker. The vertical lines that are present are from the texture of the paper. I scanned the illustration, did a little photoshop / post-processing work, and finally formatted bleeds and copy in Adobe illustrator.
Hardest part: Creating perspective in the seats, windows, and ceiling
Easiest part: Main figures
Favorite part: Peeping little girl in the back right
